Sleep trackers, deprivation tanks, nootropics, infrared sauna’s, ice bath’s, the list goes on of things I will do and try on myself (and suggest to others) if I find it’s helpful or makes me feel strong, vibrant and healthy.
Supplements is one of these tools that gets a bad wrap. Some people love them some people hate them, at the end of the day they have a time and place you just need to know the when, what and how to use them appropriately to get the most benefit.
On a daily basis I take what I call the “Big 3”… magnesium, omega 3 and vitamin D. Other things I take periodically depending on the season, how stressed I am and what’s going on with my life are vitamin C, zinc, glutathione, curcumin, probiotics, enzymes, oregano oil, etc, etc.
I have an array of arsenal for when I need them. Something I’ve recently started taking every day is Chaga Mushroom Elixir. I have played around with different mushrooms in the past but it’s been awhile since I chose to give something a chance daily.
If you don’t know much about the chaga mushroom let me give you a little rundown…
Chaga is sometimes called the “King of the Medicinal Mushrooms” as you’ll read below why. It grows naturally in Estonian forests on birch trees and it has been used in folk medicine for centuries.
Chaga is known for it’s antiviral, antimicrobial and anti-cancer properties. It’s an antioxidant powerhouse, some studies show it has three times the antioxidants as goji berries.
There’s a property in chaga called beta-glucans and they help stimulate the immune system when needed and slow it down when it’s being overactive so it’s shown to be very helpful for the immune system - which is great in times of managing your stress and immune health during global pandemics!
The high antioxidant content also assists you in reducing systemic inflammation which again, living in a world that is full of all kind of stressors Rona or not keeping inflammation at bay can have many benefits.
I began taking this elixir every day, twice a day and initially couldn’t tell if it was making too much of a difference as I would consider myself a very healthy and thriving person already. That was until we had to move out of our house for a few weeks while doing some renovations and I forgot to bring a few bottles with me. I noticed a bit of lack of energy, slightly sluggish but could not figure out why.
Once we moved back I began taking it again and even the first dose back felt like it hit my lips and I couldn’t get enough. I mean it tastes pretty great anyways, but it was like being a highly protein deficient vegan and eating steak for the first time. It was like I was missing something, a vital nutrient of sorts.
Since then, I have continued to take it daily, sometimes I forget the second dosage but I do think especially in times of stress it does help assist me to keep strong and vital and I will continue to use it.
